Being convicted daily: I'm too busy. I'm overwhelmed. Not enough time in the day: NO MORE!

"I'm so busy." "I have no time." "I'm overwhelmed."
"Not enough time in the day." "OH, but I do have to watch this TV show." "I do have to go to a party with my friends." "And by the way, I do have to sleep in."" I do have to go to the store to get organic carrot juice." "I do have to FILL IN THE BLANK."

That was me. Too busy.
And sometimes still is, I'll admit! It took me getting physically and mentally stripped of so many of my abilities to see this. I was not able to see who I was trying to please. And it wasn't God. But it was God that allowed my loss to enable my growth in Him. PRAISING HIM DAILY! Dang it, hard to admit. But freeing at the same time.

We all have the same amount of time.
I have realized that we are all given the same amount of time. 24 hours in a day. 7 days a week. 365 days a year. Not a rocket scientist moment. More of a revelation.

"Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" Matthew 6:21 NKJV

It is a choice how we spend our time.
God doesn't want us to spend it being busy. He wants us to spend it bearing good fruit. We don't have endless time. We don't even know what time we have. I ask myself, "How am I spending that time?" Once we spend it, guess what, it goes away and you don't get it back!

Look at the world.
The world wants us to be busy. Moms should cook home-made cupcakes for all classroom functions (and now they should be organic with no additives on top of that). Moms should put their kids into every extracurricular event possible. So much pressure. Who's gonna run what function? Who's gonna decorate for which party-Halloween, Birthday, Groundhog day, Presidents Day?  Grandparents Day...Christmas (And by the way we can only do Christmas without Jesus)...

Just for fun I found this-List of Unofficial Holidays.

HOW ABOUT GOD'S DAY?

 This is the day the Lord has made;

We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24 NKJV

Traps.
The world wants to keep everyone busy. Lies. If moms say no to being asked to do something than their self worth tends to suffer. Everyone says it should; the PTA, the bosses, the peers, the TV, the magazines, the media...? I know. I lived it. I personally found my worth in making art; for people, for schools, for being the cool mom and for fitting in. Side note: I have been wired to create. But see,  I have not been wired to please people. I didn't know that. This took a long time to figure out. That's why I felt so empty when everyone loved my artwork and what I created for them or for their cause. But when it came to me NOT creating artwork, perhaps I was sick in bed or suffering or had hardships in my life; where did all those uplifting words come from then, where did ALL THE PEOPLE GIVING ME KUDOS GO? You know, "Here is the steeple.."but where are the people? Well, I wasn't creating during those times, they wanted my art, my good works, not me OR SO THE THOUGHT PROCESS WENT!? So my WORKS got me attention. They got me attention. However the attention was empty. Hero one day, zero the next day. I POSE THIS QUESTION: Is it fun, rewarding or good in any way for a mom to spend every ounce of energy in their tired worn out bodies keeping everyone happy at the expense of disobeying God and losing self? ...AND WHAT IS THAT TEACHING OUR KIDS?

I guess better late than never.
Now that my youngest is 15years old and my others are 17, 18, 19, 22, 23 and 25 I see all this. UGGGGHHHH. I wish I had seen it earlier. But as God is always good I see it now. Sitting on the back porch with hot tea costs .80 cents, if even. Spending time in conversation with your kids and getting to know them personally and helping them through life situations will NEVER replace:sending them to sports, classes, workshops, keeping them busy with the TV, IPhones,  video games, whatever the case, ETC: thus keeping them BUSY.

I found that showing your kids your walk with God through your behavior, not just talk, is what really makes the difference. Developing a relationship with them will last forever.

Promises to Abram

Now the Lord had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
 I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles--when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.

No more.
Only God brings me THE UPLIFTING AND THE AFFIRMATION that I desire and need. I work to please him. Not people. Oh how so very rewarding. SO FREEING.
And now amidst my pain I am able to create once again. God is good.

Lay Up Treasures in Heaven

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19
