LOVE YOUR CHILDREN UNCONDITIONALLY!
Simply telling your children that you accept them unconditionally is not enough.
The apostle John wrote, “My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue,
but in deed and in truth” John 3:18 NKJV.
Actions are greater than words.
My parents are married 51 years today.
They are not perfect parents. They are human parents. They raised us doing the best they could with what they knew. The most incredible thing they have done-for a continual 49 years, and did immeasurable well, did it with the consistency of creamy home made butter: is to show me, my sister and my brother and our children
UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
My parents grasp life with zeal and vigor! |
And that my friends I am deeply suspecting was not always easy. Despite the countless piercings, tattoos, depressions, anger issues, stray animal rescues, creative art escapades, countless doctors, specialists, migraines, illnesses, ER scares, 5 and more grandchildren, mission trips over seas, phone calls for advice, driving out to rescue us in another state when our truck broke down while towing a trailer with a bull in it, April Fool's jokes like "I'm pregnant,"
before marriage, loans, and much, much more......
they have been my unequivocal advocates since birth.
And that list does NOT include what my brother or sister might add!
I bet they didn't realize what they were getting themselves in to!! |
I can't even remember as much as I strain my brain, a girl scout awards banquet, a swim meet, a softball game, a dance recital, a school event, an art exhibit, or anything in my life when they weren't there physically or emotionally. The endless conversations still exist as they did growing up.
I won't go through the list of what they did wrong: it is their anniversary after all!! That will be another post! :)
It's not what you say to your children that makes the biggest difference. It's the behavior you exhibit. Love them like our Lord loves you: without conditions.
“By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him” (1 John 4:13-16, NKJV)
Happy Anniversary! I love you.
